Daughter of Ex- South African Leader Jacob G Zuma Refutes Terrorism Accusations as Court Case Begins
The offspring of former South African Leader Zuma has denied all charges to terrorism-related allegations at the beginning of her court case in the coastal city of Durban.
Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla, forty-three, is being charged over statements she posted on digital networks several years back during fatal unrest in South Africa that occurred subsequent to the apprehension of her parent.
A period of chaos in various areas of the country in mid-2021, including theft and intentional burning, left at least 300 dead and caused damage worth an estimated $2.8bn (2.2 billion pounds).
She has been accused of encouraging this unrest and is charged with accusations of encouragement to commit terror-related activities and civil unrest.
Background of the Proceedings
The demonstrations were centered in the areas of the Gauteng province and KwaZulu-Natal province and followed the ex-leader's detention for disobeying a court order to testify at an investigation into accusations of impropriety while he was holding office.
Ms Zuma-Sambudla has always refuted the charges against her, with her legal representative in the past describing the government's case as insufficient.
She has also repeatedly stated the accusations against her were an effort to address political grievances with her parent after he founded his own political organization and campaigned against the ruling party.

This was reinforced by the Zuma foundation, which claimed the legal matter was an "misuse of authority" and a "organized effort" of "political and family-related persecution" against the former president and his family.
A handful of supporters from her political organization, uMkhonto weSizwe, appeared outside the judicial building, while her parent and other organization officials participated in the court sessions inside.
The defense has maintained that the testimony presented by government lawyers is insufficient and does not have concrete evidence for a guilty verdict.
