Hulu to Bring a Popular Game TV Show from the Creators of the Alien Series and the Comedy Hit.
The newest Far Cry title that players experienced was Far Cry 6, that showcased Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the villain, Antón, and came out on October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it is known for celebrating violence and insanity with the same excitement, all while telling captivating, ideologically themed narratives. Little surprise that FX's new order for a Far Cry anthology series brought on board two visionaries whose creations have represented all of those elements.
What to Expect
Based on Ubisoft's successful video game property, the limited anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The series will also mirror the video games' style by having a different setting and cast of characters in each season.
Key Producers
Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as executive producers on the series via their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
The network enjoyed excellent partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is innovative, engrossing, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our associates at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this popular property.”
What’s Next
Mac will also star in the show, but currently, we have no details on what part that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just renewed for a second instalment, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new long-term contract with the producer.
“Getting to work together with Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably supportive, placing faith in us with one of the most famous video-game realms ever created. And throughout this process, my FX family always encourages me with their steady confidence and support.”
“What I love about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an standalone program. Each game is a variation of a concept, the same way each season of Fargo is a adaptation on a story,” explained Hawley. “To create a large-scale action show that can evolve from one instalment to the next, while always examining the nature of people through this intricate and chaotic viewpoint, is a dream come true. I’m thrilled to collaborate with Rob and present our shared unconventional, ambitious sensibility to the television.”
A schedule for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
