Regardless of the result, the siblings are still looking forward to the trip.

"We will have a great time anyway," said Katie. "We have to go with that attitude."

"Of course, it's a let-down we don't have more to play for, but we have spent so much money by now."

"We will make the most of having Christmas and New Year overseas. It is also a new experience for us abroad during the festive period."

An educator, Katie is intent on maximizing the 21,000-mile round-trip as part of her time off.

"As a backup plan, I've got golf to rely on," she finished.
