Jurgen Klopp says coming back to lead Liverpool is theoretically possible.
The German coach, who left Liverpool in 2024, remarked that rejoining the club is something that could happen. The 58-year-old, post a game-changing nine-season tenure which brought a European Cup triumph and the Premier League crown in 30 years, now holds positions as head of global soccer with the Red Bull group and providing guidance for the DFL.
Fan Sentiment and Klopp’s Candid Remarks
They secured England's top flight in the previous campaign, though countless followers who adore the manager would embrace the notion that he may eventually return. During an extensive chat, he shared with his interviewer: “I said I will never coach any other side on English soil. Therefore should it be the Reds...absolutely. It's plausible.”
“I’m 58, that means I could make the decision down the line, who knows. Do I have to make the decision today? In that case, I'd stay away. Luckily, it's not necessary. I'll simply watch what lies ahead.”
What Would Lure Him Back?
Questioned regarding what circumstances must arise to bring him back to management, he revealed he feels no immediate pull to such a return. “I don’t even know exactly, I enjoy my current role,” he stated. “No longing for management; I avoid standing in the rain for two-and-a-half or three hours; I'm glad to skip interviews multiple times weekly or constant media duties weekly.
“The locker room isn't missed as a dressing room, however, dining out alongside the squad talking freely, I appreciate that. With many victories meaning regularly a very good mood at the club. Remaining with me is the captain's chuckle ringing in my ears as an instance.”
Praise for His Successor
Klopp was full of praise for his successor, acknowledging his role due to the changes that won the league last term. Liverpool have lost four consecutive matches across various tournaments after a summer spending spree, though he denied the suggestion it could be a decline.
“[Liverpool have] a top-class attacker like Florian Wirtz, doubters will be silenced if you use the wrong words. An outstanding player. Ekitike, superb talent. This is a well-built well-judged squad. No need for concern regarding the Reds, they will be fine.”
Emotional Tribute for the Late Forward
Klopp also spoke emotionally regarding the passing of the Portuguese star, whom he brought in while in charge, and its impact on Liverpool. The forward lost his life in a vehicle collision with his brother this past summer.
“Who can fill the void of such an individual? It goes beyond the player himself, his personality mattered. I can’t imagine the team environment without him in it. Putting it into words is tough about it. A profound tragedy for the entire squad as well. Not a single person might employ it to justify results but it is the situation. You walk in a dressing room where he was omnipresent. Handling this on a personal level is not easy. Overwhelming.”
