Lando Norris Tops Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
The British driver has beaten Oscar Piastri at all of the previous five grands prix.
The McLaren driver narrowly beat team-mate and title rival the Australian for the fastest time in the final moments of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who grabbed the title advantage from Piastri by one point after taking the win in the Mexican Grand Prix two weeks ago, beat the Melbourne-born driver by 0.023 seconds.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver during the running before the sprint shootout due at 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the sole remaining contender in realistic title contention, trailing with a 36-point deficit behind Norris, ended up in 17th position as his team ran a alternative strategy.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to crash, though minor, when he lost control at the fourth corner soon after starting.
The Japanese spun out over the track edges before spinning across the run-off area, and was lucky to avoid just a light touch of the barrier.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also lost it, at the final moments of the session, turning around through the quick descending corner before the final corner on to the pit straight.
Hamilton finished practice in 19th place, trailing team-mate the Monegasque driver.
Norris and Piastri were well clear of the remaining drivers, with the German's car P3, over half a second behind the Australian's time.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was fourth fastest, with the Sauber of Bortoleto in front of the Mercedes of George Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
