Nigel Farage Claims Teachers of ‘Indoctrinating Children’ on Race Issues
The political figure stated that educators would initiate walkouts within weeks a Reform UK election victory, charging that they are “harming young minds” by telling children that African-Caribbean youth are oppressed and white children oppressors.
At a gathering for a private US Christian college, Farage outlined his viewpoint on British schools, stating that the “Marxist left” had “now in control of our education system”.
“I expect a teachers’ strike very quickly after securing a victory,” Farage commented during a Q&A session.
“They are corrupting young minds. They are telling them to be ashamed of their country. They inform an eight-year-old black child that he is oppressed and little Oliver, who is white, who is eight that he is a perpetrator. They are dividing us, instead of fostering unity. They are feeding this negative culture.”
In response to Farage’s claims, Daniel Kebede rejected the idea that the schools were under Marxist influence as “absurd”. He pointed out that industrial action must relate to teachers’ terms and conditions, and questioned whether Reform would attack these right after taking office.
“The politician has crafted his political career on dog-whistle politics and now, similar to other figures, he is targeting educators and their organizations for a fight,” Kebede stated.
“This is highly reckless. I don’t – and nor does my union – push critical race theory as he’s suggesting … If he were to lead the government he would sell out our public services, particularly schooling … and the outcome would be catastrophic for education and children.”
Reform, which is leading the polls by a significant margin, has provided limited specifics on a proposed education policy and seems not to have appointed an education spokesperson.
However, Farage’s remarks indicated the group would reform the educational framework. He said: “We have got a massive job with schooling – absolutely herculean. And, it won’t happen quickly; it requires years, a long-term effort to reform.”
Farage expressed that gen Z was more open to critical thinking, but millennials were “absolutely hopeless”.
Honoring a conservative activist, he commented: “All I want education to do to teach critical thinking – to educate individuals that there are two points of view and they should decide for themselves as opposed to current practices where one is virtuous and one is evil. It’s a massive job in both Britain and America.”
Reform has previously clashed with a major educators’ organization, after Kebede called the party “far right and racist” and dismissed Farage as “a poundshop Donald Trump”.
The politician has charged the union head with being “a self-declared Marxist” … someone who is absolutely determined that our children should be poisoned through education, their minds should be poisoned regarding national issues” and maintained that the organization seeks to brainwash teenagers against Reform.
Roughly a million individuals work in schools in the UK, with educators comprising half and the remainder being assistants and administrative personnel. The leading teachers’ organization has hundreds of thousands of members.
Countrywide walkouts over educators’ salaries and work environment in recent years led to significant interruptions in educational institutions and extensive missed instruction for students.
During the American gathering, Farage also pledged to help spread the online educational material of the institution in the UK. He said organizations like it were “part of the fightback”, adding that: “I mean this. I’ll assist attract vast numbers of youth to these educational programs. I pledge this tonight and I’ll do that.”
The institution, a small private Christian college, provides complimentary classes. Its website states: “A scientific, literary, theological, political, and moral education is necessary for personal happiness and to perpetuate the blessings of civil and religious liberty. It offers these excellent programs for free to all who wish to learn.”
