President Trump Welcomes Families of Attacked National Guard Personnel to the White House
Former President Donald Trump stated on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the relatives of a National Guard member tragically killed last week to come to the presidential home.
He added that he spoke to her family and they were “heartbroken”.
Information on the Tragic Incident
Soldier Beckstrom, twenty years old, was killed in a violent incident on last Wednesday in Washington DC.
Her colleague, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, continues receiving treatment in serious condition.
Vigils across West Virginia have occurred in their honor.
Presidential Call
The president explained he’s talked about a White House visit for the families of both soldiers of the West Virginia Guard.
“I told them: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a tough thing, come to the White House. We’re going to recognize her,” Trump addressed journalists. “And similarly with Andrew, no matter the outcome.”
Public Reaction
Mourners came together over the past few days at a local school in the state to honor Beckstrom.
Both she and Wolfe had been working with the West Virginia National Guard as part of Trump’s national effort to assist law enforcement in DC.
Honoring Beckstrom
“Sarah was the individual that instructors desired. She behaved with inner fortitude, a contagious smile and a upbeat demeanor that inspired those around her,” the principal, the principal of her former high school, stated to the press. “She was kind, considerate and always willing to support those in need.”
Service details for Sarah are yet to be finalized.
Judicial Actions and Government Revisions
Officials have charged a twenty-nine-year-old Afghan national with one count of homicide and charges of violent assault while carrying a weapon.
The incident caused the Trump administration to suspend asylum processing and halt granting visas to possessors of passports from Afghanistan.
Status of Wolfe
The airman, a resident of Martinsburg, enlisted in February 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman High, as reported by the news agency.
He is still undergoing care and is “fighting for his life”, the state’s leader the governor said on a news program.
The state’s top lawyer the attorney general told a news show that she also intended to speak to his relatives.
Legacy of Beckstrom
Sarah, from Summersville, completed her education from her high school in 2023 and began her service not long after, working as a MP with distinction, as stated by the West Virginia National Guard.
“She had a lot of goodness and she absolutely had fortitude,” Morrisey told the gathering at the memorial. “Though her life lasted far too short, she has made an impact that’s going to be remembered always.”
