Rob Edwards along with O'Neil represent the early names in the frame to replace the former manager as manager of Wolves.

Pereira was dismissed on the weekend following the team's ten-game winless beginning to the top-flight season.

And Edwards and O'Neil - both of who have previous links to the club - are part of the names to be considered by the Wolves ownership.

Edwards is currently at Middlesbrough, which would create a possible hurdle to his appointment at Wolves' stadium.

However the former Luton Town head coach - who played over a century of games for the club during his playing career - is said to be a strong candidate for the position.

The 42-year-old is said to have backing from the club directors as they begin the search of appointing a new manager.

O'Neil is also appearing as a surprise candidate, although he would be a surprising choice given he was released by the club in December last year.

The former West Ham player is out of work which means the club would not need to pay any buyout fee.
