Approximately 55,000 families have so far been impacted by the weather, with their items and shelters ruined.

Intense rains over the past week have worsened the precarious living conditions of the vast number of displaced residents in the territory, as reported by relief agencies.

"Terrible" Weather Brings Grave Dangers

A official detailed the previous night's conditions as "horrendous", with precipitation so severe that around 15cm (6in) of water gathered on the ground.

"Last night was truly horrendous for the families. The storms were so powerful... And the winds were so forceful," noted the spokesperson.

Officials express significant anxiety that minors living in makeshift shelters in damp attire will fall victim to hypothermia and various sicknesses.

Casualties and Widespread Loss

Health authorities have stated that one baby has passed away from the cold and a minimum of 11 other people have lost their lives in building collapses triggered by the storms.

Additional accounts suggest a higher fatality count. Authorities stated that multiple structures had fully given way and scores had been partly destroyed.

  • Almost 55,000 families affected by flooding.
  • More than 40 emergency refuges severely flooded.
  • Many people forced to move once more.

Aid Distribution Seen as Insufficient

Agencies have increased deliveries of shelter, warm covers and clothing since the ceasefire started, but they have said there is remains not enough aid reaching those in need.

"Agencies are operating tirelessly to provide that assistance and to allocate it, but the magnitude of the requirements is so enormous that we continue to see many thousands of people and children who are genuinely enduring hardship nightly," cautioned one spokesperson.

Long-Term Issues and Truce Terms

The subsequent part of the ceasefire involves proposals for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with political arrangements, the removal of military forces, and other provisions.

Aid groups have underscored the imperative for "expanded and ongoing relief to respond to immediate and long-term requirements."

The war was initiated by an attack in late 2023. Following actions have led to a substantial number of lives lost in the region, as per official figures.
