Spurs Manager Frank Calls Goalkeeper Critics 'Not Genuine Fans'

The Cottagers Begin Powerfully to Defeat Spurs and Raise Pressure on Frank

Tottenham Hotspur supporters who booed goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario were told afterwards "those individuals can't be true Tottenham fans" by manager Frank.

Spurs conceded two scores in the first six minutes to lose 2-1 to Fulham, marking their 10th Premier League at home loss of the year.

However the main talking point was the visitors' second goal when the keeper gave away the ball well outside his box.

The goalkeeper ventured out to deal with a high pass and took the ball towards the sideline.

But, rather than booting it into touch, the Italian turned and tried to clear, but lost his footing as the ball skimmed off Wilson and was controlled by King.

The forward laid the ball off to Wales midfield player Wilson, who bent a strike into the goal from the touchline measured at thirty-six point six yards.

Seconds afterwards when the ball came to the keeper again, some Spurs fans booed him.

The team were booed off at the interval, with the club 2-0 down, and again at full-time.

One of those jeering sessions truly angered the manager.

"I heard a few of our fans reportedly booed the situation and jeered following, which, in my view is totally unacceptable," the Dane stated about the supporters' response to his shot-stopper.

"[They] cannot be real Tottenham fans that act that way. Alright booing following the game, no problem, but when we are playing, we are backing one another, we are with each other going forward."

Tete had given Fulham a early advantage before Wilson's strike – with Kudus scoring for Spurs in an better second-half performance.

Former Premier League keeper Joe Hart remarked that the next score was "completely avoidable".

"I do appreciate the supporters' disappointment," Hart added. "I am aware the role Vicario is performing. He is a excellent squad member, he is a real leader in the locker room but ultimately you are going to be assessed by your actions.

"He was deeply involved in what turned out to be the decisive score."

'It's Part of Football, I Can Handle It'

Thomas Frank Defended His Keeper Guglielmo Vicario After the Game

Italy national team Vicario is in his third season with Tottenham.

He stated following the game that he had to accept the criticism.

"That goal was a error of mine, I accept accountability for that," he commented.

"My aim was to kick the ball long and I simply hit the ball in a poor manner. It was an even bigger challenge to overcome."

He said being booed "comes with football".

"I'm a big man, how can I respond?" he added. "The team cannot be affected by the situation in the stands. Supporters have the right to do what they think.

"It's on us to stay increasingly composed, to focus on ourselves. We are lacking in composure and calmness to reverse outcomes. This match is a poor defeat and it is hard to take."

'I Was Surprised No One Went Back to the Goal Line'

Despite the keeper's error, it was not an easy goal for Harry Wilson to convert.

In fact it was the second longest-range Premier League score of the campaign – after Adams' forty-three point three metre goal for the Cherries against the Black Cats, which interestingly also came on Saturday.

The goalscorer said he was "somewhat taken aback" that he still had an open goal to aim for.

Ten seconds passed between the keeper exiting of his area and the midfielder shooting – which was 5 moments following the clearance.

"I felt like the keeper was out of the box for ages," he said.

"It amazed me not one of the back four went back to the line. When none of them covered the goal, my interest sparked a bit.

"[Destiny] Udogie slipped too, which gave me a bit of additional opportunity. Then it was solely about attempting to make the correct contact and place it towards goal. I had a positive feeling, as soon as it came off my foot, that it was on the right line."

'During in a Bad Spell, Everything Seems to Work Against You'

Booing Whilst We Are Still in Play Is Completely Unacceptable - Frank

Although the keeper's mistake dominated headlines, this was an overall poor day for Tottenham to extend their home woes.

This was their 10th home defeat of 2025 in the Premier League, a joint team record along with nineteen ninety-four and 2003.

The side still have home games against Frank's former club the Bees and title holders Liverpool to come before the end of the season.

Just a single of those victories have occurred after the manager took over from his predecessor in the off-season.

"When you're behind 2-0 following six minutes, there is a mountain to climb," stated Frank.

"When you're in a poor run, all aspects appears to work against you as well – the first was a redirected attempt, the second is a error from the keeper.

"This result leaves us in a place where we have lost another match. Each fixture has a single story, today we lost in the early stages.

"We just need to keep working. The second half was much better and with luck an aspect we can use to develop."

Spurs have lost four straight home capital clashes for the initial time in the Premier League.

Furthermore they are averaging nine point five shots and 3.2 efforts on goal per game in the division – their poorest rates on file in a one campaign (since at least the 2003-04 season).

Ex- Cottagers midfielder Murphy stated that Frank has to ride the storm.

"He's got take the stick," Murphy remarked. "He has taken a prestigious role at a major team with enormous anticipation. There is scrutiny and duty that comes with that.

"Their showings at home have been disappointing and they have to get better {quickly|
